Welcome!

Located just 20 minutes south of Downtown Richmond, Camp Thunderbird Outdoor Center is situated on 100 wooded acres in Central Chesterfield County, bordering Pocahontas State Park and Swift Creek.

Campground
Our property is anchored by our six-acre Lake George, and offers:

• 17 rustic cabins
• Sports fields
• Basketball courts
• Fishing docks
• Horse stables
• Shooting ranges
• Amphitheaters
• Hiking trails, and 
• Two zip lines ("Zippogator" and "Thunder Plunge")
• "Three More Moves" Alpine Tower

Summertime officially begins each year when we open our outdoor aquatic center, which features:

• Three pools
• A water playground
• A basketball court
• A volleyball court, and
• Two shaded pavilions

 

Stanley R. Navas Lodge*
Our modern and air-conditioned Lodge boasts:

• Conference space
• A gathering and dining hall, and
• A full-service kitchen

*Please note that our Lodge facility is for YMCA Camp Thunderbird program use only during the months of June, July, and August.
